Scopes of Practice - Response
The Board would like to thank the members of the profession, stakeholders and other interested parties who sent their consultation responses to the Board on Psychotherapist Scopes of Practice. In general those who responded agreed with the proposed changes to the frequency of practice for those registered in the Interim Psychotherapists Scope of Practice. Some feedback disagreed with the Board's definition of practice. The Board reviewed and considered all responses received before making any decisions.

2012 Recertification consultation

In late 2012 the Board sought the views of the profession and stakeholders with regard to:

  • Psychotherapist Recertification

    The Board allocated a 10 week period in consideration of the Christmas period and to allow individuals and groups time to arrange meetings.

    Clinical Supervision Consultation - Response
    The Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand (the Board) would like to thank members of the profession, stakeholders and other interested parties who sent their consultation responses to the Psychotherapists Board on Psychotherapist Clinical Supervision. There were 25 responses ranging in opinion from groups and individuals. The Board considered all the responses received.

    Supervision Policy - Feedback due on or before 17/09/10

    The Board has drafted a policy to clarify the Board's requirements and expectations relating to supervision and supervisors. Given supervision is a practice that impacts all psychotherapists the Board is now seeking feedback on this draft policy.

    Practitioners will have 6 weeks to provide the Board with feedback. Please ensure that any comments are returned to the Board on or before Friday 17th September 2010.

    Feedback closed

    The Board proposes to reduce the Psychotherapist APC fee to $680.00 (plus GST) for the 2012/2013 year, and that no disciplinary levy will be charged. This decrease will also be applied to the Board's fee for a short year APC/reduced fee rate, decreasing the reduced fee to $364.00 (plus GST).

    Supervisor Approval Fee Clarification:

    Clinical psychotherapist supervision is to be provided by either:
    1. A registered psychotherapist with a current APC; or
    2. A health practitioner registered under the HPCAA with a current APC; approved by the Board as having sufficient psychotherapy training, knowledge, skills, professional development.

    The proposed new supervisor approval fee applies only to category 2 above:

  • The fee will not apply to those already approved under category 2.
  • The new fee will apply to those seeking approval under category 2, once the Board's Fee Schedule Gazette notice is published.
